{"id":253,"date":"2017-03-11T11:39:39","date_gmt":"2017-03-11T16:39:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bethmorris.com\/cooking\/?p=253"},"modified":"2017-03-12T12:25:58","modified_gmt":"2017-03-12T16:25:58","slug":"pepper-steak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/bethmorris.com\/cooking\/pepper-steak\/","title":{"rendered":"Pepper Steak"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 tablespoons toasted sesame seed oil<\/li>\n<li>2 pounds beef round steak, cut into strips<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 medium red bell pepper, sliced*<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 medium green bell pepper, sliced*<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 medium yellow bell pepper, sliced*<\/li>\n<li>1 medium onion, sliced*<\/li>\n<li>14 grape tomatoes<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup hoisin sauce<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup water<\/li>\n<li>3 tablespoons all-purpose flour<\/li>\n<li>3 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons garlic powder<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon ground cumin<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon dried oregano<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon paprika<\/li>\n<li>1\/8 teaspoon ground red pepper<\/li>\n<li>Hot cooked rice (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*Timesaver: use 1 bag of frozen onions &amp; peppers instead<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instructions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Heat sesame oil in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef in batches; cook 4 to 5 minutes or until browned. Remove to large paper towel-lined plate.<\/li>\n<li>Add bell peppers, onion, and tomatoes to Crock-Pot slow cooker. Combine hoisin sauce, water, flour, soy sauce, garlic powder, cumin, oregano, paprika, and ground red pepper in medium bowl; stir to blend. Add to Crock-Pot slow cooker. Top with beef. Cover; cook on LOW 8 to 9 hours or on HIGH 4 to 4 1\/2 hours.
